About Hadewych Roelofsen
Hadewych was bourn in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands in 1976:
I get my inspiration from different philosophical currents.
When I create, I am part of a process which transforms energy. This
energy is set down in my sculptures, paintings and jewelry.
Within the range of my subjects, the human being takes central stage.
Recurrent themes are musicians, mother and child, women and
relationships. My work is symbolical.
I love working with different and sometimes contrasting materials.
Clay, bronze, wax, oil, acrylics, stone and wood all have their own
laws that come with them.
I can work fast in clay whereas wax work is
laborious and so calls for a different concentration. In stone and
wood elimination is the challenge, in painting the adding of paint and
the constantly moving interplay of colour and shape.
Working in bronze
is more a craft and almost alchemical, and jewelry making requires a
great eye for detail.
